Lydia ★ Lifestyle

Not to long ago I met this young lady named Lydia at a artist development session in NYC. She was assisting this music consultant friend of mine. The minute I laid eyes on her, I was like whoa shes stunning. Then I heard her speak and she had a strong French accent. After talking to her I found out she was from Paris. Recently came to New York for school. She also let me know that she had no photos really and I was like this is my chance to capture this beauty. Eventually we set up a shoot in the place she is staying (a really cool NYC apartment with amazing lighting)  Really a amazing girl… very sweet.

We had like the most fun and it was a great experience… I definitely wouldn’t mind shooting her again… in fact all my male photographer friends are dying to shoot her now lol

Kayla Sweet 16 ★ Renaissance Event Hall

Sweet 16′s have been pretty fun this year. The youth have been so fun and so cool. This time we have Kayla, whose mother I met about 6 times at prior weddings and such. I’ve done a few weddings from her church family and friends and she called me about a year ago about a sweet 16 for her daughter. At the time I probably only photographed one sweet 16 but I was ready to enjoy this event with the family with my 5D Mark II.  I was also asked for a mini shoot for the invitations and posters for the event, so we took about 20 minutes at the Tryon Park in Washington Heights in the fall.

I also want to mention that this was the first time I’ve ever shot an event at the Renaissance Event Hall and the owner and staff was remarkable. They went out of their way to make sure everything went as perfect as possible. More importantly, they put no limitations on me as the photographer as many catering halls do. This allowed me to produce what you will see below. The owner Theresa really deserves an applause for the job she does at that beautiful location.

Lydiana Medellín ★ Highline Park ★ NYC

I use to work with this young lady at BET Networks, and remembered having a talk with her about how she wanted to be an actor. I really wanted to encourage her to go for her dreams and not feel like she has to stay doing something that wasn’t what she truly wanted. Eventually she did leave and pursued acting and i’m proud to know that she got casted in two films as of recently. I was ready to do a shoot with her that would help her in her career. We stayed in NYC around the Highline Park and just rocked it out. Even with the nosy old lady that kept following us and complaining lol.

Peter & Bebe Canteros Wedding ★ King of Queens

Two very dear people recently got married and asked me to capture their wedding. You guys should remember them from the very creative Buffy the Vampire Slayer engagement session. We actually had plans of doing a baseball themed wedding and even doing a bridal shoot at a stadium but at they found an apartment that was very old school themed and they decided to stick with that for the wedding. To have a very traditional wedding is usually a scary thing for me, with my non-traditional style but I was able to add twist to the tradition and created something I am in love with. I had a hard time at this ceremony due to the pastor asking me not to take any photos at all during the ceremony BUT i crawled around like a cat and captured what I had to … the bridesmaids were cracking up as they saw my head pop up from different places and then go down lol. I MAKE IT WORK!!!

Enjoy this very QUEENS wedding… oh and the reason I mentioned King of Queens is because her house that she grew up in is the house from King of Queens opening credits. How cool is that?!

It’s gonna be a big one so have fun!

Hani Abdulbaki ★ Recording Artist

Every now and then I help out a friend of mine and A&R Joey J-Harris with recording his showcases and meetings. I’m much more into photography at the time but it’s a good learning experience as far as videography goes. This time was a really exciting one because I ended up doing a shoot for this artist as well. Hani Abdulbaki, a model from Houston, TX is making his move into the music scene and so far so good. Really a dope fella; we had a cool time doing this shoot. The goal was to take him to the Soho area for a real urban feel but we were already at the Marriott in Time Square and I happened to see the most amazing light by the window. Later we quickly took a train to Tribeca and found the best ally’s ever. I already forgot how to get there but I’m always great at following the same steps. Check out this model/singer do his thing in NYC.

I’ll post his music below the photos.
